A2P 10DLC, explained for electrical contractors
If you've tried texting customers from a business number and messages quietly failed to deliver, you've met A2P 10DLC. It sounds like a robot's name, but it's just the system U.S. carriers use to keep business texting legitimate. Here's the plain-English version.
What A2P 10DLC actually means
A2P stands for “Application-to-Person” - texts sent by software rather than thumb-typed by a person. 10DLC means a standard 10-digit local number. Carriers now require any business sending A2P texts on a 10-digit number to register the business and its use case.
Why carriers require it
Registration cuts down spam and fraud. In exchange for registering, your legitimate messages get better deliverability and fewer false spam flags. Unregistered traffic increasingly just gets blocked.
What you have to do
OwnerSwitch is an ISV/reseller for pilot businesses. Each electrician's verified identity, opt-in path, messaging use case, Brand, Campaign, and assigned number must be registered through the correct Twilio customer-profile structure. Registration is a provider process, not a product guarantee.
The bottom line
Registration and carrier approval can take time and can be rejected. No pilot business sends A2P traffic until its approved campaign, number assignment, public disclosures, and synthetic delivery evidence all agree.
For activated channels, OwnerSwitch can record supported inbound events and prepare a draft that waits for your approval. Apply for the invite-only pilot.
